TEMPORARILY NOT ACCEPTING NEW REVIEW REQUESTS

NEED TO CATCH UP ON BACKLOG

“To see with one’s own eyes, to feel and judge without succumbing to the suggestive power of the fashion of the day, to be able to express what one has seen and felt in a snappy sentence or even in a cunningly wrought word – is that not glorious? is it not a proper subject for congratulation?” Albert Einstein

Now that I have been reviewing for some time, it is time to revise my review policy.  It is obvious when an author has taken the time to read this. For those that do I will consider reviewing their work, for those who do not, why would I waste my time. Having said that, I will review what I want to review.  Here are my guidelines.

While I  read ebooks, I do prefer printed books. Note that I said prefer as opposed to only. Any book I review, regardless of format, I will purchase. The theory being that if I am interested enough to take my time to read it, then the author should get some profit out of it. Just in case that wasn’t clear, I do not accept free books, free downloads, or any work you may want to send to me.

I read both fiction and non-fiction. In fiction, I read most genres with the exception of romance, fantasy, science fiction or young adult. If you write in those genres, then I am not the reviewer for you.

If I read a book, I am honest in my review as to how that book resonates with me. If it is good I will say so, and if it is crap I will say that, and it doesn’t matter how famous an author may be.

Hopefully, you have taken a minute to read this policy, as it is quite simple.  Any requests showing that you have not read this will be ignored.

My ratings are the simple five star system, defined as follows:

One star – not really worth the time to read based on either bad writing or it is an insult to readers.

Two star – not that bad but good only if one is stuck on a desert island with not much else to do.

Three star – this is a good book, maybe not outstanding, but an average read worthy of one’s time.

Four star – you have intrigued me, kept me gripped and the writing is above the norm.

Five star – you blew my socks off, surprised me, and I can’t wait for your next book.

So if you would like me to review your book get in touch and know you will get an honest gut reaction.
